The following is the News Release from the 2010 campaign . . .

Help for the Homeless Donations Top $200,000!
43 Local Crisis & Homeless Agencies Receive Help from Their Communities

WEMI & WEMY Christian Family Radio are pleased to announce that more than $200,000 worth of personal hygiene items and cleaning products have been collected and donated to 43 local crisis and homeless agencies through our18th annual Help for the Homeless Campaign, February 21 – March 21, 2010.

Help for the Homeless works directly with the homeless coalitions in the Fox Cities, Green Bay, Oshkosh, Fond du Lac, and Manitowoc to stock the shelves of local homeless and crisis programs with new toiletry and cleaning products so they can dedicate their limited financial resources to providing qualified personnel, safe housing, nutritious food, education, and counseling to those they serve.

More than 460 generous area businesses, schools, and churches rallied behind the project by placing collection boxes where their members, staff and students would see them, and encouraged them to donate.

“I watched one of the residents open up the boxes to put things away and he was like a kid in a candy store. The excitement he showed for the simplest of items like laundry soap and shaving cream almost made me cry. The things that we all take for granted are at a premium in homeless shelters. Thank you for putting a smile on so many faces!”    - Peggy Wilms, Volunteer at Father Carr’s Place 2B in Oshkosh

WEMI & WEMY Christian Family Radio wishes to thank all participating collection sites as well as the hundreds of volunteers and area businesses who donated their time, their trucks, their staff, their loading docks, their printing presses, and their sanctuaries and gymnasiums – all of the campaign needs were met with breathtaking generosity.  Thank you Northeast Wisconsin!

"We were overwhelmed at the generosity of the community. The really cool thing is that the volume of this donation helps us with administrative costs. It saves us many hours of asking and coordinating other organizations, schools, etc. to do a drive for us. That way the hours can be spent on larger projects. Most importantly, it allows us to spend more money on direct financial assistance for those in need with basics such as housing, utilities and transportation."
Julie Coenen, Leaven
